Pescadaro Farms, an Oku Nursery, is proud to be growing Hydroponic Lettuce!
Grown in insect protected, screened greenhouses (no bugs…no pesticides), the Lettuce is grown atop floating rafts in very large ponds. The Lettuce takes up only the nutrient that the plant needs with no ground water pollution. This method uses only 5% of the water of traditional farming, organic or otherwise, and takes up only the nutrients that the plants need and nothing more.
Hydroponics is the most efficient and sustainable way of growing food by far. Growing up to 12 crops per year in the same space vs traditional agriculture at about 2 crops per year. Hydroponics is the future of Sustainable Agriculture.
